PLAGIARISM POLICY
Lughoti: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab upholds academic integrity and is committed to preventing all forms of plagiarism in every published manuscript. This policy serves as a guideline for authors, reviewers, and the editorial board in maintaining the originality and scholarly quality of the journal.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of taking ideas, words, data, or work belonging to others (including one's own previously published work) without providing proper acknowledgment or attribution, and presenting it as one's own original work. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbatim plagiarism — directly copying sentences or paragraphs without proper quotation marks and citation.
- Paraphrasing plagiarism — rewording content from an original source without adequate attribution.
- Self-plagiarism (auto-plagiarism) — reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published manuscript or data without proper acknowledgment or permission.
- Data plagiarism — manipulating, fabricating, or falsifying research data.
- Citation plagiarism — citing sources that the author has never actually read or directly used.
Use of Plagiarism Detection Software
- Every manuscript submitted to Lughoti: Journal of Arabic Language Education will be checked for its similarity index using plagiarism detection software, namely Turnitin, and/or other supporting applications (such as iThenticate or Plagiarism Checker X) depending on the editorial team's needs and license availability.
- The check is conducted during the pre-review stage, before the manuscript is sent to reviewers.
- The maximum acceptable similarity index is 25% of the entire manuscript (excluding the reference list and properly attributed citations).
- The similarity report will be retained as part of the manuscript's administrative archive and may be used as editorial consideration.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy
In light of the growing use of generative artificial intelligence technologies (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and similar tools), the editorial team of Lughoti: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab establishes the following provisions regarding their use in the manuscript writing process:
- AI cannot be listed as an author or co-author, as it cannot bear academic and legal responsibility for the content of the manuscript, a requirement expected of an author.
- Authors are permitted to use AI-based tools for technical purposes such as grammar refinement, translation, sentence paraphrasing, or language style editing, provided that the author remains fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and scholarly compliance of the final content.
- Authors are required to disclose AI usage in the acknowledgment section or a footnote of the manuscript if an AI tool was used significantly during the writing process, including the tool's name, version, and the section(s) of the manuscript it assisted with.
- Manuscripts are strictly prohibited from being substantially generated by AI without genuine intellectual contribution from the author, including data generation, analysis, research findings, or conclusions entirely produced by AI (AI-fabricated content).
- The editorial team reserves the right to use AI-content detectors (such as GPTZero, Turnitin AI Writing Detection, or similar applications) as an additional tool in the manuscript screening process, alongside the standard similarity check.
- If indications of AI usage inconsistent with the provisions above are found — either before or after publication — the editorial team reserves the right to request clarification from the author, reject the manuscript, or issue a retraction in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their submitted manuscript, including ensuring that all citations, paraphrases, and data used are properly attributed in accordance with applicable scholarly writing conventions (referring to APA 7th Edition citation style), as well as ensuring compliance with the AI usage policy stated above.
