Abstract

Religious moderation is one of the central issues in contemporary Indonesian religious life, especially amid the proliferation of extremism and socio-religious polarization. This study aims to examine religious moderation through the lens of the Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) tradition, specifically by exploring three core values that serve as its pillars: tawassuth (middle path), tasamuh (tolerance), and tawazun (balance). Using a library research approach, this study analyzes various primary and secondary sources including classical texts, policy documents, and scientific journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that these three Aswaja values have a strong conceptual and practical relevance to the principles of religious moderation formulated by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The study concludes that the internalization of Aswaja values in education, da’wah, and social life constitutes an effective strategy for preventing radicalism and strengthening social cohesion in pluralistic Indonesia.
