Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Program Studi Ekonomi Syariah, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Universitas Al-Qur'an Ittifaqiah (UQI) Indralaya, Indonesia.
Aims and Scope
Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah aims to promote and disseminate high-quality scholarly research in the field of Islamic economics, finance, and related disciplines. The journal serves as an academic platform for researchers, lecturers, practitioners, policymakers, and students to contribute to the development of Islamic economic thought and practice at national, regional, and international levels.
The journal welcomes original research articles, review articles, conceptual papers, case studies, and empirical studies covering, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Islamic Economics
- Islamic Finance
- Islamic Banking
- Islamic Insurance (Takaful)
- Islamic Capital Markets
- Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf
- Islamic Social Finance
- Halal Industry and Halal Supply Chain Management

The journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches and welcomes contributions from scholars and professionals worldwide.
Peer Review Process
Al-Iqtishad applies a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, ensuring that the identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Team to assess:
- Relevance to the journal's aims and scope;
- Originality and novelty;
- Scientific contribution;
- Compliance with author guidelines;
- Language quality and academic writing standards.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin Similarity Check before entering the peer-review process.
The journal requires a maximum Similarity Index (SI) of 20%, excluding references, quotations, and bibliography. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to authors for revision or rejected at the discretion of the editors.
Review Process
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Originality
- Methodological rigor
- Theoretical contribution
- Data quality and analysis
- Clarity of presentation
- Relevance to Islamic economics and finance
Reviewers are typically given 21 days to complete their evaluations and provide one of the following recommendations:
- Accept
- Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions
- Reject
In cases of conflicting recommendations, the Managing Editor may appoint an additional reviewer or make an editorial decision based on the available reports.
Revision Process
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to submit revised manuscripts within:
- Minor Revision: 2–3 months
- Major Revision: 3–6 months
Revised manuscripts may undergo further review before a final decision is made.
Final Decision
The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rests with the Managing Editor and Editorial Board.
Publication Frequency
Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is published biannually, with two regular issues each year:
- June
- December
The journal may also publish special issues focusing on emerging themes and selected conference papers related to Islamic economics and finance.
Open Access Policy
Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is committed to providing immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
The journal operates under a Diamond Open Access Model, meaning that neither readers nor authors are charged any fees.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Al-Iqtishad adheres to the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must:
- Submit original work;
- Properly cite all sources;
- Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification;
- Disclose conflicts of interest;
- Ensure that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the manuscript.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must:
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Provide objective and constructive feedback;
- Identify relevant published work not cited by authors;
- Declare any conflicts of interest.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors must:
- Evaluate manuscripts fairly and objectively;
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Avoid conflicts of interest;
- Make publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
Al-Iqtishad does not charge any fees for:
- Article submission;
- Peer review;
- Editorial processing;
- Publication;
- Article access.
The journal is fully funded by the Sharia Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Universitas Al-Qur'an Ittifaqiah (UQI) Indralaya.
Archiving Policy
To ensure long-term preservation and accessibility of published content, Al-Iqtishad utilizes multiple archiving systems and institutional repositories.
