Plagiarism Policy
Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah
Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing. The journal strictly prohibits plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, and unethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in manuscript preparation.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent original scholarly work and comply with internationally accepted standards of research and publication ethics.
Plagiarism Policy
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted manuscripts are free from plagiarism and properly acknowledge all sources used in the preparation of the manuscript.
Authors must:
- Cite all ideas, theories, data, figures, tables, and findings derived from other sources.
- Provide complete and accurate references for all cited materials.
- Clearly identify direct quotations and provide appropriate attribution.
- Avoid self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and redundant publication.
- Obtain permission for copyrighted materials when required.
Any form of plagiarism is considered a serious violation of publication ethics and will not be tolerated.
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process.
The Editorial Board of Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah uses Turnitin Similarity Check to evaluate manuscript originality.
Similarity Index Requirements
- The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%.
- Similarity originating from references, bibliography, properly cited quotations, author affiliations, and standard methodological descriptions may be excluded from evaluation.
- Manuscripts exceeding the similarity threshold may be returned to authors for revision or rejected, depending on the extent of overlap.
- Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism will be rejected immediately.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Generated Content Policy
Al-Iqtishad recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and similar technologies, may assist authors during the research and writing process. However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical compliance of scholarly work.
Authors may use AI tools for:
- Language editing and grammar improvement.
- Translation assistance.
- Improving readability and clarity.
- Preliminary brainstorming and idea generation.
Authors must not use AI tools for:
- Generating research data or findings.
- Fabricating references, citations, or sources.
- Producing substantial portions of the manuscript without critical human oversight.
- Replacing scholarly analysis, interpretation, or academic judgment.
Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript if such tools have contributed significantly to the writing process.
The disclosure should appear in a separate section before the References, for example:
AI Use Disclosure: The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) solely for language editing and improving readability. All interpretations, analyses, conclusions, and final content remain the responsibility of the authors.
Failure to disclose significant AI assistance may be considered a breach of publication ethics.
AI Similarity and AI Detection
In addition to plagiarism screening, the Editorial Board reserves the right to evaluate manuscripts using AI-content detection tools and editorial assessment.
Manuscripts identified as containing excessive AI-generated content without substantial human intellectual contribution may be:
- Returned for revision.
- Subjected to additional editorial review.
- Rejected if they fail to meet scholarly originality standards.
Authors remain fully responsible for:
- The accuracy of all statements.
- The authenticity of data and references.
- The originality of the manuscript.
- Compliance with ethical publishing standards.
Editorial Actions in Cases of Misconduct
If plagiarism, undisclosed AI-generated content, fabricated references, falsified data, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, the Editorial Board may:
- Request clarification or revision.
- Reject the manuscript.
- Withdraw the manuscript from the review process.
- Retract published articles.
- Notify the author's institution or funding body when appropriate.
- Restrict future submissions from the responsible author(s).
Author Declaration
By submitting a manuscript to Al-Iqtishad: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah, authors declare that:
- The manuscript is original and free from plagiarism.
- All sources have been properly cited and acknowledged.
- The manuscript has successfully passed Turnitin similarity screening according to the journal's requirements.
- Any use of AI-assisted technologies has been transparently disclosed.
- The authors accept full responsibility for the content, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.
