Screening For Plagiarism

LA RIBA: Jurnal Perbankan Syariah is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal adopts a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism, including direct plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism, data plagiarism, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicate publication, and self-plagiarism.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources used in their manuscripts are properly acknowledged through accurate citations and references. Any use of text, data, figures, tables, or ideas from other works must be clearly attributed to the original source. Failure to provide appropriate attribution constitutes a breach of publication ethics and may result in immediate rejection of the manuscript.

To maintain the quality and originality of published articles, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using Turnitin, the plagiarism detection software employed by the journal. Manuscripts are evaluated not only based on the overall similarity index but also through a detailed assessment of the nature and source of similarities. Editorial decisions are therefore based on both quantitative similarity scores and qualitative evaluation of the manuscript content.

As a general policy, the journal requires that the overall similarity index should not exceed 20%, excluding references, quotations, and bibliographic materials. However, compliance with the similarity threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance. Manuscripts may still be rejected if substantial portions of the text overlap with previously published works, even when the similarity index falls below the prescribed limit.

If plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified at any stage of the editorial process, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. In cases where ethical violations are discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue corrections, expressions of concern, or article retractions in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors are strongly encouraged to conduct plagiarism checks before submission using reputable similarity-detection tools such as Turnitin and to ensure that their manuscripts meet the journal’s standards of originality and scholarly integrity.

By submitting a manuscript to LA RIBA: Jurnal Perbankan Syariah, authors confirm that the work is original, free from unethical publication practices, and complies with the journal’s plagiarism and publication ethics policies.
