Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ethical problems arising from AI utilization in PAI learning and to formulate a Qur’anic ethical framework for AI integration among PAI teachers in MAN 1 Surakarta. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving PAI teachers and school stakeholders. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that AI usage in PAI learning requires ethical reconstruction grounded in Qur’anic values, namely amanah, tabayyun, honesty, responsibility, and humanistic learning principles. The study also proposes a conceptual model of Qur’anic ethics that positions AI as a supportive educational tool without diminishing the spiritual and moral roles of teachers. Theoretically, this study contributes to the advancement of Qur'anic ethical discourse on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic education by developing an ethical framework grounded in the principles of amanah (trustworthiness), tabayyun (verification), ihsan (excellence), adab (proper conduct), and responsibility. Practically, the findings may serve as a reference for Islamic schools (madrasahs) in formulating ethical guidelines for the use of Artificial Intelligence and in strengthening the digital literacy of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, ensuring that the adoption of technology remains aligned with the objective of fostering students' moral character.
