Abstract

This study aims to analyze the synergy between the school curriculum and pesantren-based education in strengthening Islamic Religious Education at MTs Miftakhul Ulum Kalirejo. The background of this research is based on the importance of integrating formal and non-formal education in shaping students’ religious character holistically. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the synergy between the school curriculum and pesantren education is realized through the integration of learning materials, reinforcement of religious activities, and habituation of Islamic values in students’ daily lives. The implementation of this synergy has a positive impact on improving students’ religious understanding, attitudes, and worship practices. However, several challenges remain, such as limited time, diverse student backgrounds, and suboptimal coordination among educational managers. Therefore, strengthening curriculum management and enhancing collaboration are necessary to optimize this synergy.
