Author Guidelines

Jurnal Symfonia: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam

1. General Provisions

  • Articles must be written in proper Indonesian or English.

  • The manuscript should present original research, literature reviews, or critical thought in the field of Islamic Religious Education.

  • Article length: 5000–6000 words, including abstract, references, and appendices.

  • Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under review by another journal.

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).

  • Margins and spacing follow the official template available on the Jurnal Symfonia website.


2. Article Structure

a. Article Title

  • Length: 8–12 words.

  • Font: Book Antiqua Bold 18, single spacing.

  • Must clearly reflect the content of the research.

b. Author Name(s) and Affiliation

  • Full name without academic titles (Book Antiqua 14, bold, single spacing).

  • Affiliation: institution name and email address.

  • If there are more than three authors, use "et al." in the copyright metadata.

c. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract in Indonesian and Abstract in English.

  • Length: 100–150 words.

  • Font: Book Antiqua 11, single spacing (abstract title: Book Antiqua 13 bold, capital letters).

  • Abstract content: research problem & objective (one main objective), method, research findings, and concise conclusion.

  • Keywords: 3–5 words, arranged alphabetically, separated by semicolons.

d. Introduction

  • Font: Book Antiqua 13 bold (title), body text Book Antiqua 11 single spacing.

  • Length: approximately 2–3 pages.

  • Must include:

    • Background of the problem (using the triangle principle: general-specific-urgency).

    • State of the art.

    • Gap analysis.

    • Research objectives and novelty.

e. Methodology

  • Font: Book Antiqua 13 bold (title), body text Book Antiqua 11 single spacing.

  • Explains: research design, population/sample, data collection techniques, instruments, data analysis.

  • For qualitative research: include researcher presence, informants, location, duration, and data validation techniques.

  • Avoid excessive subheadings. Use diagrams or figures where necessary (e.g., ADDIE development stages).

f. Results and Discussion

  • Font: Book Antiqua 13 bold, capital letters (title), body text Book Antiqua 11 single spacing.

  • Results: presented in text, tables, or graphs (tables have captions above, figures below).

  • Discussion:

    • Answers the research questions.

    • Interprets findings.

    • Compares with at least 15 relevant previous studies (reputable national/international journals).

    • Avoid numbering/bullets; use connecting paragraphs.

g. Conclusion

  • Font: Book Antiqua 13 bold (title), body text Book Antiqua 11 single spacing.

  • Maximum 100 words.

  • Summarizes findings according to research objectives, not repeating data. Should be solution-oriented.

h. References

  • Font: Book Antiqua 13 bold (title), body text Book Antiqua 11 single spacing.

  • Minimum 30 references, mostly from journal articles with DOI.

  • Mandatory use of reference management software (Mendeley, Zotero, etc.).

  • Citation style: APA 7th Edition.

  • If no DOI is available, use the article's URL.

  • Arrange alphabetically and consistently.


3. Citations and In-Text References

  • Citations must be indirect (paraphrased).

  • Format: (Last Name, year) or Last Name (year).

  • Two authors: (Riebel & Roger, 1980).

  • More than two authors: (Susanto et al., 1994).

  • Multiple different sources: (Riebel, 1978; Roger, 1981).


4. Tables and Figures

  • Tables: caption above the table (Table 1. Title of Table).

  • Figures: caption below the figure (Figure 1. Title of Figure).

  • Table/figure numbers and titles use Book Antiqua 11 regular.


5. Copyright and Correspondence

  • Copyright: © 202x. Author1, Author2 (if more than three: Author1 et al.).

  • Include the corresponding author and an active email address.


6. Additional Requirements

  • Total word count: 5000–6000 words.

  • The abstract is typed with narrower margins than the main text.

  • Avoid excessive conceptual discussion; focus on data, facts, and field findings.

  • The article template can be downloaded from the official Jurnal Symfonia website.


7. Examples of Citations and References (APA 7th Edition)

In-text citation example:
(Hewi, 2015) or Hewi (2015) states that...
